Core Musica is a local-first desktop application. This site complements that approach by keeping downloads, release information, and support guidance public and straightforward — no account required.

Privacy across the desktop app
Core Musica and this website share the same privacy philosophy: your data stays yours, and any network activity is explicit.
No mandatory account
Browsing releases, reading docs, and checking for updates never require creating an account.

When metadata enrichment uses third-party providers, that behavior is always explicit and under your control.

Your choice
Analytics only run after you accept them in the cookie banner. If you decline, or if your browser sends a "Do Not Track" signal, Umami does not measure your visit. You can change your choice at any time using the cookie settings link in the site footer.
Umami (self-hosted)
We measure how the site is used with Umami, an open-source analytics tool that Syntax Circus hosts itself at umami.syntaxcircus.com. Umami data is not shared with any third party. It records the pages visited, the referring site, your browser, operating system, device type, screen size, language, and approximate country. Your IP address is not stored; a temporary anonymous identifier, derived from your IP address and browser details and changed regularly, lets us count visits without identifying you.
Google Analytics
We also use Google Analytics, a service provided by Google. Once you accept analytics, Google Analytics collects similar usage information and may set cookies in your browser. That data is processed by Google under Google's privacy policy.
Why, and on what basis
We use analytics only in aggregate, to understand which pages are useful and to improve the site. Our legal basis is your consent (GDPR Art. 6(1)(a)), which you can withdraw at any time. Analytics data is kept only as long as needed for this purpose.
Cookies
- The site stores your consent choice in an essential preference cookie (
syntax_circus_tracking_consent, kept for 180 days). - Analytics cookies, such as those from Google Analytics, are only set after you accept.
- We do not use advertising cookies.
Operational data
To keep the site secure and working, our servers process IP addresses in logs and in automatic rate-limiting and abuse blocking. Self-hosted error reporting and performance tracing tools may also record request URLs, browser details, and IP addresses. This data is used only to operate and protect the site, is not used for analytics, and is not shared externally.
Your rights
You may ask about, access, correct, or delete personal data we hold about you, object to processing, or lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority. Because Umami data is anonymous, we may not be able to link it to you. To make a request, use our support page.
